If Angkor Wat had not already been on my list, it certainly would have been added after reading this write up! You have brought to life a mysterious and magical land. In your case, it is not “a picture is worth a thousand words “ but the other way around!

Apart from your trademark lyrical style, the information loaded into this piece makes it a great travel guide. I honestly did not know about the temples other than Angkor Wat.

The leisurely pleasure is immersive!

I’m flattered and pleased that I’ve helped add Cambodia to your list of must-see places around the world! I like what you say about pictures and thousand words, of course I do Lakshmi, how can I not! Do keep me in the loop when you eventually buy that ticket and head to Cambodia, thank you for reading and the lovely comments.

Excellent, detailed article. Makes me want to go back. We all loved Siem Reap (went there 5-6 years ago). Your descriptions of Angkor Wat, Ta Phrom and Pub Street brought back so many nice memories. It’s such an affordable and friendly place! Now after reading, I feel we need to go back to catch the sunrise at AW and the lake houses on stilts sounded interesting too!

I really enjoyed reading this, and as I said to you - Cambodian tourism could well use this piece in their travel brochures. Thanks to your vivid description, Siam Reap finds a place in my rather long bucket list 😊😀

Hehe that is such a sweet thing to say, love your response as always. Your bucket list is similar to mine. Maybe some day we can travel to unvisited spots together, at least a few of them. I love girl trips, as much as I love travelling with my male partner.

Kay, enjoyed the trip to Cambodia through you! Just trying to visualise the Ta Phrom trees holding up structures. Must have been magical. The pic of the dawn is ethereal.

Haven’t been yet … must do it now.

Wow Kamalini, thanks for taking us along with you on this mystical, mythical incredulous journey to the land of temples and monasteries. The juxtaposition of moments of intense spiritual beauty with your down-to-earth battle with the elements gave it both a zen quality and a humorous edge. Your vivid descriptions of the people and places of this beautiful country had its own flavor and sensitivity.

Thank you so much for your beautiful comment on my piece. I’m so thrilled with your words, and yes, I did want to write a piece that encompassed both the country’s beauty and the manner in which it deals with its recent grief and loss: with humour, grit and determination. That is what impressed me above all....their warm, welcoming stance against the backdrop of great strife and struggle. Oooof! I am so glad to have visited.

Such a vivid, visually enchanting piece, Kay! I was transported, to say the least.

I'm sure this will stay in my mind. I will eventually travel to Cambodia, whenever that is destined to happen, until then, this will do ❤
