A beautiful ode to a parent, you've captured her beautifully - a woman who lived her life on her own terms and taught her children to do the same. We have much to learn from our mothers, thank them for teaching us resilience and forgive them when they falter - hoping that our children will do the same.

Well encapsulated Samira- absolutely. And thank you for reading and bestowing my heart’s vocabulary the love and compassion you have.

Both didi and I continue to remember and learn from Maa- both her follies and her tricks. She wasn’t a forgettable woman. Yes, hoping our kids will forgive us too, and learn from whatever we are offering.

Dear Kamalini,

This really touched my heart. A beautiful ode to mothers. And for introducing us to a strong woman!

I loved the lines "we repeatedly failed and you repeatedly fled" and "insistent upon being a young girl in a 75 year old's body".

Thanks for writing this!

Beautifully said with a surprise mixture of angst, love and caring. Your writing is tense and yet loving, your complaints softly clothed in love and regret for not having been able to understand her when you should have. Well done 👍

the pen you hold is one of those, that dries for a bit, and then gushes forth with ink of a different colour, fear not. Be patient.

Kamilini. I have always been a fan of your writing. This one touched my heart in morays than one and made me so teary eyed as we all have very unique relationships with our mothers. They are really the best in the universe and you have brought it out so beautifully. Keep shining and writing. Lots and lots of wishes

Thank. you dear Seema. Yes, moms are special. Not having a known a world without her, I have struggled to come to terms with her physical absence. But she is around, always. Her voice reverberates in my unconscious and conscious being, chatting to me, telling me so many things she didn’t tell me when around.

Thank you for reading with love.

What a brutally honest piece! You must have delved deep within to write with so much awareness and empathy. It's a beautiful ode to her.

Thank you dear. Yes, it wasn’t an easy piece by any means; probably the toughest but cathartic & helped me understand her compunctions even better after 2 years. With time gone, and she with it, it becomes both easier & harder to let her go.

I’m glad i’ve put down how i’ve felt, it has nourished my love for her.

Thank you for reading my friend 🙏🏽
